More green growing things at the end of June!

Potato plants are growing fast, and blossoms are appearing.

Hostas glowing in the late evening sun.

Bird-house gourd plants starting to stretch out...most of the tendrils are headed north - ??

Corn is supposed to be "knee high by the 4th of July" - not sure why :)

First harvest!

Harvested the first zucchinis from the garden last night!  And a Walla Walla sweet. YAY for summer!

And there are many more to come!

Roma tomatoes

...and a beautiful Old Mexico calendula starting to bloom!

Pool time...

I had so much fun "water walking" in my little Doughboy pool on Sunday, that on Monday  I made time to uncover the pool and spend some time striding against the water.  Felt really good after a long day fighting battles at work.

Filling the pool last year after kids and spouses
helped stretch the new, clean, bright new liner.
Water temp was not that warm - 71 degrees - but once I got in and moving, it actually felt great!  I am going to check with the pool folks and get the pyramid-shaped solar heater.  A few more degrees of warmth would make the pool that much more enjoyable!

Wore my grandma necklace today... LOVE IT cuz my granddaughter is so precious, and another precious one is on the way.

Hard to picture I am a grandma.... grandmas are OLD.  :)

Cheerful sun.....

It's 8:30 at night.. and the sun is low in the west.....
I love the long shadows of evening.

The weeping birch is bright in the light from the west.

Long shadows stretch into the apple orchard next door.

My rusty bird in its rusty nest, sits above the hostas.

And a less pleasant happening...

Our nine-year-old dishwasher started smoking yesterday.

Here is husband, unhooking key pieces from the old one.  We bought the same make and model from the same store, but had some installation issues.  Dishes from dinner are draining in the dish drainer from our trailer :)

It's all good.

Cookie treats

Has been a busy busy time at work... many of my group are working extra hours each day, and their Friday off.  Nearing the end of this big push...finally.  Thought I would bring in some homemade cookies as a small token of appreciation...

Pioneer Woman makes food pics look easy...not true!

Here are the cookies...they taste better than they look :)
Several layers deep on the cooling rack.

I can never eat just one :)

Blue sky and sunshine....

Garden is growing well....

Zukes are less than a week away from harvest,
and then I will have so many .. YIKES!

Walla Walla sweets are growing nicely...
won't need to buy any more this summer.

Hostas are growing like crazy in the shade of the honey locust tree!

Made a batch of iced coffee concentrate... ala Pioneer Woman. Yummy!!
Check it out...   perfect iced coffee!

Here's to a great week!!

Kids came.. kids left....

Had a great weekend with both daughters, both husbands, three dogs and little Miss M!

The family photo shoot went off without a hitch... and hopefully both daughters got great family pics for their own use.  Lots of visiting after "The Picture," with BBQ-ed hot dogs, good eats, and gathering of "nuts" (acorn caps) by the many little guys and gals - the great-grandkid generation.

I can hear Miss M "talking" when I look at this picture!

The little one is a bit blurry, but what a priceless picture!

And.... changing the subject... the garden is looking pretty good!

Three rows of potatoes in front, and then WW sweet onions, and tomatoes beyond that.

Volunteer sunflowers we tranplanted in a row along the fence.

Future birdhouse gourds!

First day my gazania bloomed... gorgeous color!
The bloom closes up when the weather turns cloudy!
Beautiful geranium.....  Thanks to Master Gardeners!

Take care, ya'all!!

FAMILY weekend comin' up!

This weekened 90 kids, grandkids and great-grandkids...and assorted spouses... are descending on our home town for a photo shoot.

My MIL will be 80 next year, and she has asked her eight kids and spouses, 32 grandkids.. and spouses, 30-some and counting great grandkids to all smile pretty for a BIG family pic!

Almost everybody is able to come.  One of our daughters changed their long-held cabin reservations, so they could be in the picture. (actually - they changed their vacation to make grandma happy...)

Will be SWEET .... as they say... to have our kids, hubbies and GRANDBABY here for the weekend.  Hooray!

Sunday ramblings.....

Most of my flowers are in containers lining the walkway to the back door.
Here is a gorgeous geranium from the Master Gardeners' plant sale.

These plants will be much bigger soon....
I love the "chocolate" leaves on the geranium at the top of the picture, and the bright white begonia and cheerful blue-purple lobelia.

My only rose died back to the root, and I am hoping that when these buds open, we will see the original rose, which I transplanted from my MIL's house, many years ago.

Finishing up a baby quilt for grandbaby #2....used a darling already quilted panel... so really didn't have to do that much :)

Take care, ya'll!

Sunny Day!

We are enjoying a real, almost summer day! High 70's ... no wind (hooray!!) .....just downright nice!!

Attended a memorial service for our neighbor's dad.... a healthy, sweet 70 year old grandpa.... died suddenly from a heart attack.  His son, our neighbor is struggling....

He was a Hispanic fellow, from Texas, and most of the JW service was in Spanish.... I worked hard to catch words or phrases.  "Hermano Adrian" - "brother Adrian."

And ...the ice maker water line is IN....guess it will be as long as 24 hours before ice is available... I am excited!!

#2 grandbaby is a healthy baby GIRL..... YAHOO!  Shopping.... here I come!
